Our Story
GigaWhat was born from a simple frustration: finding great live music shouldn't be this hard.
As a passionate live music enthusiast, I found myself constantly searching for open mics, jam sessions, and intimate gigs across the Netherlands. Traditional search engines left me sifting through outdated listings, scattered information, and venues that had long since closed their doors. I wanted something better – a platform that actually understood what music lovers need.
"There had to be a better way to connect musicians, music lovers, and the incredible venues that bring us together."
So I built GigaWhat – not just another directory, but a curated, living guide to the Dutch live music scene. The name itself tells our story: GigaWhat is a playful fusion of "gigawatt" (pure energy), "gig" (live music), and "what" – as in "what's happening tonight?" It captures the electric energy of live music and the question every music lover asks: where can I find it?
